Our Chapter

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, John Berry Chapter of Georgetown was chartered in May, 2007 and has continually grown since then. Our members meet the third Saturday of each month, September through May, at 10 AM in the Georgetown Library where a program related to the Republic of Texas or Texas history is presented. At times our meetings are held in other locations such as the Texas State Cemetery or Berry Springs Park and Preserve. Please refer to our calendar for our annual schedule of meeting places and times.

The John Berry Chapter is proud of earning the Six Star Chapter Award each of the past six years. It is based on:

Attendance at the district workshop, state convention, and meetings,

Donations of Texas flags, maps and books,

Sponsorship of a Children of the Republic of Texas (CRT) chapter,

Number of recorded volunteer hours, giving community talks and demonstrations, and

Observance of the Texas Honor Days by members.

Members give talks to schools and organizations on pre-1900 Texas and its citizens. We also participate in other Texas history related projects. As a part of the DRT, the John Berry Chapter donates Texas flags, flag pledge cards, historical Texas maps, and/or copies of the Texas Declaration of Independence to area schools.

Representatives of our chapter presented books related to Texas history to the librarian at East View High School.
